Race Info

Get your fill of dirt, rocks and roots at the Lake Padden Trail Half – a 13.1 mile TRAIL half-marathon to support the kids in our community! The dense forest around Lake Padden, (located in beautiful Bellingham, WA) gives way to a challenging and memorable course designed for intermediate to advanced runners. All proceeds will benefit Rebound of Whatcom County, a local charity dedicated to the children on the fringes of our community.

USATF National Championship Race

We are proud to announce that the Lake Padden Trail Half Marathon has been selected by the USATF as their 2014 National Trail Championships. Any racers who wish to compete for prize money, either Open or Masters, must be a USATF member prior to the race. Please bring your USATF membership card to the race.

Open Men and Women:

1st - $750, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $250, 4th - $125, 5th - $75

Masters Men and Women:

1st - $150, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50

Race Details

When – Saturday, Oct 18, 2014 – 9am race start

Cost - $45 - $60 After October 1st – Race tech t-shirt available for additional $15 when registering.

Registration – 2014 registration is OPEN. Register HERE at UltraSignup.com – Time limit for this race will be 4 hours.

Please carpool - We encourage everyone to carpool if at all possible as parking will be very limited.

Aid - There will be four aid stations along the course that will provide water, Gu2o and plenty of encouragement.

Post race - Join the post race party lakeside for awards, recovery food, drink and friends. Massage Therapists will be on hand to do post race recovery massage.

Age Group, Awards & prizes - Any USATF competitor receiving prize money will not be eligible for age group awards. Unique hand crafted awards created by Bay Engraving will be presented to first male and female overall, special awards to first male and female masters overall & grand masters overall and top 3 in each ten year age category.

Race Photos - “Smile” Your race photo may be taken along the course by our professional photographer Takao Suzuki Photography.

Lodging – Our host hotels are the Best Western Lakeway Inn & Conference Center and SpringHill Suites in Bellingham. A special discount is available for all participants. Note - The the first 1.5 miles has changed from previous year's courses. To eliminate the first 400m of blacktop, the race will now start in the ballfield behind the finish line.

Getting here

Lake Padden Park is located just a few short miles outside Bellingham. It's easily accessible from I-5 coming from the south or north.

Coming from SOUTH of Bellingham:

Take exit 246 for North Lake Samish, turn left onto S Samish Way, continue 2.4 miles until you reach the Lake Padden EAST PARK ENTRANCE (you’ll pass the west park entrance on the way), take a left and continue until you’re able to find parking near the race start.

Coming from NORTH of Bellingham:

Take exit 252 for Samish Way, turn left onto S Samish Way, take the 1st right to stay on S Samish Way, continue 2.3 miles until you reach the Lake Padden EAST PARK ENTRANCE (you’ll pass the west park entrance on the way), take a right and continue until you’re able to find parking near the race start.
